History of Mouse Technology Looking back through the development of pointing devices, there is one common factor that up to this day has hampered the user experience. Dust. In the pre and early 90s era of the track and ball mouse, cleaning the rollers was an absolutely necessity. A mouse that wasn’t meticulously cleaned was prone to inaccurate and jagged motion due to dust and dirt particles sticking and gathering on the encoder wheels.
The late 90s spawned the optical laser mouse which provided users with vastly improved use on a variety of surface. Laser and optical mice provided much higher imaging power than their mechanical predecessors. However, they were still hampered by the same issue of dust and foreign particles entering the illumination area over time and disrupting pointer accuracy.
Today Introducing…PPO, the next level of optic mouse technology. The essential piece of an optic mouse is its imaging power, and the imaging power comes from the lenses used in the illumination area. Our manufacturing facilities generate and package the lenses with the utmost care in a dust free facility. However, the most important task is maintaining the integrity of the lens in the user’s hands. In conjunction with developing accuracy using the PPO engine, the R&D team also specially designed a seal to protect and streamline their creation. The seal effectively protects the lenses against damage from foreign particles as well as prevents unintended light from entering the illumination area. The seal is in fact tight enough to prevent water from entering the lens area while maintaining its normal operating function. The final product is the PPO mouse engine. In the famous words of the highlander, there can be only one.
